This is an amazing time for dynasty fantasy football.  We are beginning to get some rookie practice reports; all kinds of fantasy football drafts are underway which gives everyone a chance to put theirbperr money where their mouth is in respect to player evaluation and strategy.  I joined a start-up league run by my buddy Stan Hyatt.  It is a 12 teamer with 40 regular roster spots and five taxi squad spots (rookies only).  The lineups are as follows: 1 QB, 2-3 RBs, 2-5 WRs, 1-3 TEs (need eight combined players out of RB/WR/TE spots), 1 K and on the defensive side 3-4 LBs, 3-4 DBs, 2-3 DLs with ten total defensive starters.  It is PPR scoring for all positions, tackle heavy IDP scoring, 6 points for every touchdown, .1 points per 1 yard of offense (rushing and receiving), and .05 per yard of passing and/or returns.  I was lucky enough to end up with my favorite roster spot, 10th overall in a straight snake format.  You can find the league here: http://football24.myfantasyleague.com/2015/options?L=78307&O=17

6.03 WR Breshad Perriman, Ravens

Perhaps because this was my selection, but getting Perriman as the 34th wide receiver off the board was great value in a start-up draft.  He should step right into the Ravens number one role right away.

6.07 RB TJ Yeldon, Jaguars

It looks like Yeldon will be the opening day starter.  The runner is solid near the goal line, has good agility and decent vision.  I’m not sure he should be the 18th running back off the board, but the back doesn’t have any threats to his playing time and can be a three down player.

7.01 LB Kiko Alonso, Eagles

The third year linebacker changes teams and schemes with a less friendly assist giving stat crew in Philadelphia.  Alonso was the Tasmanian Devil in Buffalo, but how will he do alongside other talented inside backers?  His selection as the 5th linebacker off the board is too rich for me.

7.09 QB Matthew Stafford, Lions

I’m not disputing that Stafford should be the sixth fantasy quarterback off the board.  My problem is that the team who selected him, took Cam Newton the round before.  Unless this is a quarterback flex league (which it isn’t), it was a wasted pick here.

8.11 & 8.12 QBs Marcus Mariota, Titans and Jameis Winston, Bucs

These two rookie quarterbacks got selected as the seventh and eighth players at their position.  Neither one is a proven fantasy commodity.  I would feel comfortable with Winston as a QB2 on a dynasty team and Mariota as a QB3, neither one as my day one starter.

9.10 QB Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers

He was great value as the 12th quarterback picked.  Roethlisberger plays on a high-powered offensive team with a solid offensive line.  The Steelers defense needs serious improvement which places him in a great spot to finish in the top six at his position for the next two to three years.

9.12 LB Eric Kendricks, Vikings

Rookie fever strikes again as Kendricks was the 12th linebacker off the board.  While I like his athleticism and spot on the Vikings, he should not get selected before Justin Houston, Telvin Smith, KJ Wright or Paul Worrilow.

10.11 WR Vincent Jackson, Bucs

The talent and opportunity are there with the Bucs, but for how long?  I have a feeling Jackson will be on his third NFL team by the summer of 2016.  There were better selections to make in the tenth round of a startup draft.

10.12 S Harrison Smith, Vikings

If you want the best defensive back, then you need to grab him early.  The end of the tenth round seems a little rich, but if you value the position, it is a good selection here.
