This is an amazing time for dynasty fantasy football.  We are beginning to get some rookie practice reports; all kinds of fantasy football drafts are underway which gives everyone a chance to put theirevans1 money where their mouth is in respect to player evaluation and strategy.  I joined a start-up league run by my buddy Stan Hyatt.  It is a 12 teamer with 40 regular roster spots and five taxi squad spots (rookies only).  The lineups are as follows: 1 QB, 2-3 RBs, 2-5 WRs, 1-3 TEs (need eight combined players out of RB/WR/TE spots), 1 K and on the defensive side 3-4 LBs, 3-4 DBs, 2-3 DLs with ten total defensive starters.  It is PPR scoring for all positions, tackle heavy IDP scoring, 6 points for every touchdown, .1 points per 1 yard of offense (rushing and receiving), and .05 per yard of passing and/or returns.  I was lucky enough to end up with my favorite roster spot, 10th overall in a straight snake format.  You can find the league here: http://football24.myfantasyleague.com/2015/options?L=78307&O=17

1.01 QB Andrew Luck, Colts

Sure this is the best quarterback in dynasty to own and could be the highest scoring player again this year.  I believe Luck is a top eight to ten pick, but this early was a bit too soon for me.  After Aaron Rodgers, who got selected at 1.07, there wasn’t another one picked until the fourth round aka wait.

1.05 WR Mike Evans, Bucs

This was another pick that was too rich for me.  Evans was the choice before Julio Jones, Antonio Brown, and Dez White were off the board.  He has a rookie quarterback throwing him the ball and might not even be the best wide receiver on his team.  The second year wide out should have been more of a top 15 option versus a top five.

1.09 TE Rob Gronkowski, Patriots

He is the most productive tight end in the league and is only 26 years old.  If your league requires a tight end, Gronkowski gives his team a distinct advantage in every week he starts.

2.06 RB Marshawn Lynch, Seahawks

“Beast-mode” is a fantastic back, but he has a lot of carries on his body.  Lynch almost left Seattle in a contract dispute and has two decent backups.  This would have been a good pick two to four rounds later, but too rich in the second round.

2.08 WR Sammy Watkins, Bills

This young, talented receiver is now in a murky situation in Buffalo.  Last year’s rookie number one rookie draft option surely is better than the 11th wide out off the board.  He is great value here.

3.08 WR Calvin Johnson, Lions

I thought he was great value here even though his window is closing.  Johnson should stay a top five receiver for the next two to three years.

3.09 RB Melvin Gordon, Chargers

The pick seems a bit premature with Adrian Peterson and CJ Anderson still available.  I’m not convinced he is a top ten dynasty back while Peterson and Anderson are not.

4.07 WR Allen Robinson, Jaguars

This wide out is moving up draft boards quickly.  He is in a great situation with a young quarterback, Blake Bortles, and could see a big jump in their second year together.

4.12 LB Luke Kuechley, Panthers

Kuechley is the second safest IDP to draft after JJ Watt.  He is young and plays in a target rich environment.

5.07 WR Percy Harvin, Bills

The seventh year receiver is playing on his fourth team in a two-year span.  While Harvin has a lot of athleticism, I’m not sure enough footballs or decent quarterbacks are around the Buffalo offense to feed LeSean McCoy, Watkins, and Harvin.  He would be a better ninth or tenth round pick in a startup draft.

5.11 Dorial Green-Beckham, Titans

This rookie has too many off-field concerns, and a rookie quarterback that might not fit the system in Tennessee.  This selection is too rich for my blood.
