Dynasty fantasy football is all about grabbing assets before their values quadruple.  Last year, the owners that invested in the likes of Alshon Jeffery and Nick Foles got highly rewarded for their insight.  I took a quick glance at stedmanmyfantasyleague’s ownership values of many 25 years and under players.  It was surprising how many under owned potential fantasy assets are laying on waiver wires in leagues or might be a small trade away from being on your fantasy roster.

WR Stedman Bailey, Rams 32.32% owned

This second year receiver is a splash of trouble and upside.  He will miss the first four games of 2014 due to performance enhancing drugs, but was dramatically increasing his playing time during the last quarter of the season.  The Rams wide receiver core does not have an elite talent, perhaps Bailey can get back to his West Virginia playmaking ways.  His upside is enough for me to take that chance.

TE Travis Kelce, Chiefs 44.78% owned

You have all heard this story before, KC Head Coach Andy Reid loves tight ends.  Kelce got placed on the injured reserve in week six last season due to a knee injury.  He flashed a lot of athletic talent playing for Cincinnati in college, but also has some substance abuse issues.  The upside and talent are there, the real question is: will his health or personal demons prevent that from happening?  I’m willing to take that chance if his value is this discounted.

RB Dexter McCluster, Titans 48.42% owned

I’m sure his age is a little surprising as McCluster only turns 26 at the end of August.  If he is used as a change of pace runner and receiver out of the backfield like McCluster was in 2011, the back could surprise with close to a thousand combined yards.  I doubt the Tennessee coaching staff wants to overload young Bishop Sankey and McCluster could work well with Jake Locker in an option based system.  It depends on how crazy Coach Whisenhunt wants to scheme the offense, but I like what McCluster brings to the Titans.

LB Kevin Minter, Cardinals 14.27% owned (this would work out to about 50% owned in all IDP leagues)

The second year linebacker played sparingly last season.  But due to free agent signings and the suspension of Daryl Washington, he could be the tackle leader for the Cardinals.  Minter will play beside an older, slower former Steeler Larry Foote who should poise little threat to his numbers.  Heck, the only other defender that could lead Arizona in tackles is rookie safety Deone Bucannon.

TE Mychal Rivera, Raiders 28.06% owned

His head coach, Dennis Allen, before the draft stated that the tight end was a foundation player for the Raiders.  Rivera was a reliable target catching around 66% of his targets and caught passes in 15 of the 16 games last season.  Oakland’s top two quarterbacks both favored tight ends in their earlier gigs.  I know much of the fantasy community still loves David Ausberry with his nine career catches in three years, but I’m going to bank on the consistency of Rivera.

RB Chris Thompson, Redskins 5.47% owned

The second year back is an amazing receiver out of the backfield.  It’s just too bad that injuries have limited his playing time.  Thompson had broken vertebrae, and a torn ACL in college.  Last season he got placed on the injured reserve due to a torn labrum.  His new head coach, Jay Gruden, seems quite enthralled with him.  We already know that Gruden’s system can support two backs, so perhaps give Thompson a chance.
