Every week I will take a look at the rookie players to gage how some of the rookies were used. Then I will try to decide if these rookies are worth picking up from your waiver wire or if you should try to trade for them.

Cam Newton completed 58% of his passes, threw for 256 yards, and a TD pass.  He added another 59 yards on the ground, and a rushing TD on 10 carries.  Newton was not phased by the Redskins defense, used his running backs more, and made good decisions.  If you have him as your #1 QB, you are happy with the 300 total yards and 2 total TDs.  Everyone in your league should know his value by now, so if you have Newton hold tight.

Delone Carter (10 carries for 89 yards, 1 TD) was the only part of the Colts offense that looked good against the Saints.  Carter ran angry, put his foot down, and ran decisively.  With Joseph Addai now re-injured, I would expect Carter to squash the Donald Brown competition.  Carter can win the 2012 starting job in the next month.  Make a play for him now before his value rises any further if the price is reasonable.  For the rest of the rookies, click here:
