There is nothing like going to the NFL draft to get your blood pumping and this year was no different.  Unlike my previous ranking where I lumped everyone together,  I decided to tier my top IDP players by linebackers, defensive linemen, and defensive backs.  Keep in mind, these are dynasty rankings as some of these players will not play much during 2011. Please consider all of these ranking were completed with the next three years in mind.  With all the unknowns of when training camps start, and how much of the playbook each rookie will get to learn, some players will play from the jump, while others will take a little time to get on the field.  Some of the IDPs bigger names went to less than ideal situations, ie: Prince Amukamara and Von Miller; however in time, they can become very productive fantasy players.

Linebackers

1. Mason Foster, Tampa Bay

2. Martez Wilson, New Orleans

3. Colin McCarthy, Tennessee should get the opportunity to be a thumper

4. Nate Irving, Denver

5. Bruce Carter, Dallas  injury risk for 2011 but well worth it in dynasty

6. Casey Matthews, Philly

7. Von Miller, Denver  4-3 is not the ideal system for him

8. Greg Jones, New York Giants will need to grow into it

9. Akeem Ayers, Tennessee

10. Chris Carter, Pittsburgh reminds me a lot of James Harrison

Defensive Linemen

1. Robert Quinn, St Louis

2. Jabaal Sheard, Cleveland will help out their ability to pass rush

3. Da’Quan Bowers, Tampa Bay

4. Adrian Clayborn, Tampa Bay

5. Cameron Jordan, New Orleans will help put pressure on the QB which was lacking last year

Defensive Backs

1. Jaiquawn Jarrett, Philadelphia with Quintin Mikell not certain to return to Philly , here is the new playmaker

2. Patrick Peterson, Arizona

3. Price Amukamara, New York Giants

4. Curtis Brown, Pittsburgh will get tested playing against the league’s best pass offenses

5. Brandon Harris, Houston

6. Aaron Williams, Buffalo will give that defense another ball hawk

Andy, i think Peterson will have to be converted to Safety to be relevant in fantasy football…
