My first blog entry was about 2011 rookie QBs and RBs dynasty owners need to focus on watching.  My second installment deals with the pass catchers.  The dominance of RBs in fantasy football has been sliding each year as points per reception leagues are now the norm.  Getting young, cheap help can make the difference between a championship team and a borderline playoff team.

My top 3 TEs as 1/17/11

1. Kyle Rudolph– he reminds me a lot of Brandon Pettigrew with his two-dimensional game and may take a little time to develop, much like Detroit’s  Pettigrew to find his role in an offense

2. DJ Williams– his game reminds me of Aaron Hernandez, as he is quick and can find a seem, but is not a very physical guy (great hands and good body control)

3. Luke Stocker– he reminds me of Jay Riemersma, the former Buffalo Bills TE who played in the NFL from 96-04, he has good hands and runs high while looking stiff; however in the right system be like Tony Scheffler

My top 10 WRs as 1/17/11

1. AJ Green– he reminds me of a bigger, stronger Lee Evans (great quicks, can track the ball anywhere and is very smooth)

2. Julio Jones– the first word that comes to mind when he is on is BEAST, but he isn’t always on, very similar to Plaxico Burress and like him, he can run hot and cold

3. Jonathan Baldwin– he runs with a longer stride than most and seems to be lazy on occasion (he is a blend of Randy Moss/Sidney Rice and not always in a good way, but has plenty of athletic talent)

4. Torrey Smith– many are comparing him to his earlier Maryland counterpart DHB, don’t let that fool you, he is big athletic strider and is more similar in his game to Dwayne Bowe than the Oakland soon to be washout

5. Leonard Hankerson– he reminds me of a more athletic Malcolm Floyd as he can get the big catches and make the routine ones as well

6. Titus Young– he is a very quick, stop on a dime type of WR (he may physically look like D-Jax at only 170 lbs but plays more of a similar game to Johnny Knox)

7. Jerrel Jernigan– if Philly teammates D-Jax and Maclin were to have a WR built from their combined DNA, this guy might be it, he is quick, can find a seem, and be physical when his team needs a play

8. Greg Little– the former running back is drawing a lot of comparisons to Anquan Boldin and Percy Harvin with the physical nature of his play (fighting for the ball, being a fast, strong, powerful runner after the catch), after spending 2010 on suspension, let’s hope he can be ready for the NFL year one

9. Randall Cobb– he is a very accomplished returner and route runner, has a lot more to offer and reminds me of Pittsburgh’s Emmanuel Sanders

10. Ronald Johnson– when he is on the field I am reminded of Mike Sims-Walker, he does nothing great but does everything well.

As I stated in my last article, these initial thoughts will expand and change once I see more game film and watch the combine.  Use these comparisons with other great fantasy focused insight such as Joe Everett, Shane P Hallam, Matt Waldman, Cecil Lammey, among others.  Don’t be afraid to put in the research time yourself, but don’t just watch the you tube highlights either.
