Rookie Report Week 10

Miami Dolphins vs. Carlolina Panthers Preseaso...

Every week I will take a look at the rookie players to gage how some of the rookies were used. Then I will try to decide if these rookies are worth picking up from your waiver wire or if you should try to trade for them.

Denarius Moore exploded with 5 receptions for 123 yards and 2 TDs in this year’s first Thursday night game.  What was most encouraging is that most of his production came after Jacoby Ford came out of the game.  Moore handled the #1 coverage and made some spectacular catches.  Carson Palmer has a great arm to take advantage of his athletic gifts and I think we are only seeing glimpses of what Denarius Moore could be.

Fellow rookie Vincent Brown also had a good Thursday night game as he was Phillip Rivers most targeted receiver with 9 throws.  Brown caught 5 for 97 yards and 1 TD.  He isn’t very fast, but his route running was on the money and he showed an acrobatic catch or two in his first start. For the rest click here: http://www.fantasyalarm.com/rookie-report-week-10/

2011 Fantasy Football Rookie Report: Denarius Moore, WR, Oakland Raiders

Some people never change, especially not Al Davis, who will prove that to you with his choice in Raiders jogging suits.  Davis needs his “speed freaks” which is apparent in his choices of wide receivers over the years: Willie Gault, Jerry Porter, and Darrius Heyward Bey.  True to form, Davis drafted Denarius Moore; however, unlike years past, he waited to get Moore in the 5th round of the 2011 NFL Draft.  The Raiders have no strong armed quarterback to get him the ball, instead Jason Campbell is there.  Campbell doesn’t have Kenny Stabler’s arm, nor does he have Rich Gannon’s, or even JaMarcus Russel’s arm.  Another point of concern is two of the team’s best blockers in OG Robert Gallery and TE Zach Miller left with former head coach Tom Cable to go to Seattle.

2011 NFLPA Game – Texas vs The Nation: A Tale of Two WR’s

The Texas vs The Nation game has a lot of history in its short five-year existence.  For those doubters that believe this is a so-called all-star game that needs to be discarded, they really need a reality check.  This year’s NFC Championship Game could have been very different without Caleb Hanie and Johnny Knox, who both were discovered in part by this game.  Other NFL notables to get their chances amplified due to this game are Pierre Garcon and Bernard Scott.  This year’s game, while low scoring, introduced some of us to a new crop of lesser known players, especially some wide receivers.
